Borussia trio on the pitch as Germany lose Nations League semi-final

Germany have missed out on the final of the UEFA Nations League. Coach Julian Nagelsmann's team suffered a 2-1 (0-0) defeat to the Portugal national team in the semi-final in Munich on Wednesday evening. BVB defender Waldemar Anton was in the starting line-up for the DFB team, while two other Borussia players came on as substitutes in the second half.

Florian Wirtz put Germany ahead shortly after the restart (48), only for Portugal to turn the game on its head thanks to goals from Francisco Conceicao (63) and Cristiano Ronaldo (68). Waldemar Anton started alongside Jonathan Tah and Robin Koch in Germany's back three. The Borussia player was replaced in the 71st minute by Felix Nmecha. Karim Adeyemi also came off the bench and was denied by the post in the 82nd minute. Pascal Groß remained on the bench as an unused substitute.
