BVB women: public training ahead of cup highlight against FC Bayern

In windy weather and autumnal temperatures, BVB coach Markus Högner led the Borussia women to a training session open to the media at Hoeschpark on Thursday morning, before the BVB women face reigning double winners FC Bayern in a historic clash in the first round of the DFB-Pokal on Monday (29 September, 18:30 CEST). You can still secure tickets for this clash at the Rote Erde stadium in the online ticket shop.

The BVB women began their training session in front of journalists with warm-up exercises in the centre circle. This was followed by a warm-up game – without a ball, but with various objects to throw – before moving on to passing drills with the ball.

Coach Markus Högner then had his players compete against each other in two teams on the full pitch, with regular pauses to hone in on tactical aspects. On Thursday, the focus was placed particularly on defence. At the end of the session, however, the Dortmund players were allowed to work on their finishing and also practised set pieces, with some impressive free-kick goals being scored at Hoeschpark.

He is a little fighter. We had a great time together last time, and again today. The children get a real boost when we come here.
