Cup tie against Phönix Lübeck to be played in Hamburg

BVB will play their first competitive match of the new season against 1. FC Phönix Lübeck at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg. As the Buniamshof in Lübeck is not suitable for the first round of the DFB-Pokal, the home stadium of second-tier club Hamburger SV has now been confirmed as the venue.

After their intensive summer preparations, the Black & Yellows will get down to business on 17 August (kick-off 18:00 CEST): head coach Nuri Sahin's team will take on Regionalliga side Phönix Lübeck in the DFB-Pokal. The Volkspark, currently also a EURO venue, has a maximum capacity of 57,000 spectators for domestic competitive games. Information on ticket sales will follow next week.
