Germany win again, Kobel keeps another clean sheet

Nine Borussia players were in action with their national teams on Monday evening: The German national team, featuring Karim Adeyemi, Nico Schlotterbeck, Maximilian Beier, Waldemar Anton and Felix Nmecha, were once again successful in their World Cup qualifiers.

Northern Ireland 0–1 Germany
After defeating Luxembourg on Friday evening (10 October), the German national team also picked up a win away to Northern Ireland on Monday. Nick Woltemade scored the only goal of the game in Belfast after 31 minutes. Nico Schlotterbeck and Karim Adeyemi were once again in the starting line-up, with Schlotterbeck playing the full game and Adeyemi making way for Maximilian Beier in the 65th minute. Waldemar Anton also got involved in the action when he came on as a substitute for Aleksandar Pavlovic (87). Felix Nmecha did not feature. The victory puts Germany at the top of World Cup qualifying Group A with nine points from four games, level on points with Slovakia but with a better goal difference.

Slovenia 0–0 Switzerland
Despite a 0-0 draw against Slovenia, Gregor Kobel and the Swiss national team have defended their top spot in Group B and now have 10 points: Gregor Kobel kept another clean sheet and has yet to concede a goal in World Cup qualifying. In the fifth minute, the Borussia player rushed out to clear a dangerous ball by the hosts, and in the second half he prevented them from taking the lead with a save to deny Zan Vipotnik.

Sweden 0–1 Kosovo
In Group B, Daniel Svensson also played his second match with the Swedish national team during this international break. After losing to Switzerland last Friday, the Scandinavians were defeated by Kosovo on Monday evening in Gothenburg, with the match ending 1-0. Svensson played the full 90 minutes. With just one point from four matches, Sweden remain rooted at the bottom of Group B.

England U21 1–0 Andorra U21
England's U21 team secured a victory in the European Championship qualifiers: the team led by Borussia Dortmund's Jobe Bellingham, who started the match and played until the final whistle, won 1-0 at home against Andorra. England now top Group D with three wins from three games.

Portugal U20 1–0 Germany U20
The young German team featuring Almugera Kabar lost their second friendly match of the international break. Coach Hannes Wolf's side fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Portugal U20s in Fontelo. Unlike in Monday evening's first match, Kabar was in the starting line-up.
