Daniel Svensson is the 'Rookie of the Month' for April

Borussia Dortmund's winter signing Daniel Svensson is the Bundesliga's 'Rookie of the Month' for April. The 23-year-old beat off competition from Michael Olise (Bayern Munich) and Leopold Querfeld (Union Berlin).

Svensson transferred to Borussia Dortmund at the start of February and has since made 10 Bundesliga appearances for the Black & Yellows. He started all four matches in the month of April. The Swede scored his first goal for BVB in the home game against Mönchengladbach (3-2) and celebrated acrobatically with a somersault. He also contributed two assists in the 3-2 away victory over TSG Hoffenheim.

The 'Rookie of the Month' is voted for by the fans (40%), club representatives (30%) and selected Bundesliga experts (30%). Each month, Bundesliga players who were under the age of 23 on Matchday 1, had never previously featured in the starting line-up and had not accumulated more than 450 minutes of game time are eligible for the award. The award is presented by the Bundesliga in partnership with Sorare. At the end of the season, the 'Rookie of the Season' is chosen from the monthly winners.
