Club World Cup: fan information for the game against Fluminense

On Tuesday, 17 June, BVB will play Fluminense on Matchday 1 of the group stage of the Club World Cup at 12 noon (local time) at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford (New Jersey). We have summarised the most important information for all BVB fans travelling to support the team.

Basic information

  • All important information about the Club World Cup and the BVB matches in the USA can be found at www.bvb.de/klub-wm. The site is updated on an ongoing basis.
  • Short-term information on the supporting programme and match day will be shared via the BVB fan representatives' WhatsApp channel, which you can subscribe to here.
  • It is also worth checking placetobvb.bvb.de regularly, where short-term fan contact points are also marked.

Contact on site

The fan representatives Benedikt Watermeier (+491702285155, [email protected]) and Sebastian Schneider (+491702069435, [email protected]) will be available for you around the first group game and can be contacted from the weekend in New York.

Travelling

  • Please note that you will need a valid passport and an approved ESTA to enter the USA.
  • Please also note the travel and security advice provided and continuously updated by the Federal Foreign Office.
    • In this context, the Federal Foreign Office advises, among other things, to ensure adequate immunisation against measles.
    • It is also strongly recommended that you take out adequate insurance cover, e.g. foreign health insurance with repatriation insurance.

  • The MetLife Stadium is located in East Rutherford (New Jersey), around 35-40 minutes by car from ‘Downtown Manhattan’. Early arrival is recommended.

Travelling by public transport

  • There is a direct train connection at the MetLife Stadium with the ‘Meadowlands’ stop right next to the stadium.
  • You can reach the ‘Meadowlands’ stop via the ‘Secaucus Junction’ stop, which can be reached from ‘Downtown Manhattan’ via the ‘Penn Station’ stop on the NJ Transit railway, for example.
  • A special train service is available from the Secaucus Junction stop.
  • Please note that you will need a valid ticket for the outward and return journey, which is not included in the stadium ticket.

Car/9-seater

  • Car parking spaces are available in the immediate vicinity of the stadium.
  • The car parks can be booked in advance here. It is also possible to pay for the car park on site.
  • The car park fee is $50.
  • Tailgaiting events around the stadium are not permitted.

Admission

  • The stadium opens 120 minutes before kick-off, i.e. at 10 am local time.
  • At the stadium entrance, there will first be a ticket check and then a body check. Please note that every spectator must pass through a metal detector.
  • Entry will be accompanied by stewards and the police.
  • Please note that the tickets are only valid in the FIFA ticket app and will only be activated and thus ‘visible’ shortly before the match day. An internet connection is not necessary.

Permitted fan paraphernalia:

  • Fence flags (max. 2 x 1.5 metres)
  • Flags (max. 2 x 1.5 metres)
    • Flagpoles must be flexible and non-flammable
    • Flagpoles must not be longer than 1 metre and must not exceed a diameter of 1 cm
  • Larger flags must be registered in advance via the FIFA Fan Material Portal at least 5 days before the match.
  • Fans with larger flags must be at the stadium 2.5 hours before kick-off for the purpose of checking fan material.
  • Please note that flags and other fan paraphernalia with political, discriminatory or commercial content are not permitted and may result in exclusion from the stadium.
  • Please follow the instructions of the stewards when hanging up fence flags.

Prohibited fan paraphernalia:

  • Megaphones
  • drums
  • Block flags
  • balloons

Permitted items:

  • Transparent plastic bags (max. size: 30 cm x 15 cm x 30 cm)
  • Small bags that are not transparent (max. size: 11 cm x 16.5 cm)

Items not permitted:

  • Bags and rucksacks larger than the above specifications
  • Camera bags of any kind
  • Pyrotechnics of any kind
  • Weapons of any kind
  • Bottles and cans of any kind
  • Food and drinks

A limited drop-off point is available at each entrance to the stadium, which costs $5 when used.

Stadium

  • The BVB fan area is located in blocks 123-128, 222A-228A und 224B-228B..
  • Tickets will be checked again upon entry to the seating areas of the stadium. Please make sure to use the seat assigned to you.
  • Payment in the stadium can only be made by debit or credit card.
  • Please note that smoking in the stadium is only permitted in designated areas and not in the stands.
  • Food and drinks may be taken into the stands and consumed there.
  • Alcohol is served in the stadium. Please note that alcohol can be purchased in the USA from the age of 21 and you may have to show an ID document.
  • Please also observe the other rules of behaviour and the applicable stadium regulations.
