Svensson in the starting lineup for Sweden, Ryerson advances with Norway

Two Scandinavian teams were in action in the round of 32 of the FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night: While Daniel Svensson was in the starting lineup for Sweden‘s loss to France, Julian Ryerson did not play for Norway in its victory over Ivory Coast.

For the Swedish national team and Daniel Svensson, the World Cup is over after a 0-3 loss to France in the Round of 32. The Borussia Dortmund player started on the right wing and was substituted in the 82nd minute.

Norway defeated Ivory Coast 2-1 in the first knockout round. Former Borussian player Erling Haaland scored the winning goal four minutes before the final whistle. Julian Ryerson remained on the bench for the entire match. In the Round of 16, the Scandinavians will face Brazil on Sunday (5 July, 10 pm).
