After the 3-2 victory over Frankfurt, the coach and the players agreed: BVB had started strongly, then dropped off dramatically, and produced a strong response in the second half. Here are the reactions to the game:

Marco Rose: "We started the game very well in the first ten minutes, then conceded a goal from a set piece, and then had a period in which we made too many mistakes. Nevertheless, the first half was not bad, we got into some good areas. But it's too easy to create chances against us. At half-time, everyone was calm and realistic. The lads listened, and we discussed a few little things. I got the impression that they believed in it. We want to tackle any situation, and we did that well today. When we pulled one back at 1-2, we believed again. Turning a game like that on its head should now show the guys that a good attitude really pays off. I am calling on them to keep showing that attitude and hope that victory will give us something extra. On Friday, we have the next chance against Freiburg, and then we will see in which direction we are heading."

Mats Hummels: "We made a very good start to the game, produced a very good response throughout the second half and brought home a great, emotional victory. Not conceding goals is a very big issue for us. We keep conceding goals from situations we shouldn't. That was the case again today. That happens to us too often, then most of the time you won't win. We have to make stability our top priority. The coach told us during the break that we had to do what we did in the first 15 minutes of the first half again, that we will always create chances, that we always have the quality to score goals, and that we have to manage to dominate games. We did that really well in large parts of the game. If we want to win something, we need that energy over 90 minutes, every week."

Emre Can: "Wins like that feel especially good. We wanted to start the new year with a win, and we managed to do that. I don't know who still believed we could do it after the first half, but we as a team believed it – otherwise we couldn't have turned it around. We started well in the first half, but we conceded from a set piece and were misplacing a lot of passes. In the second half, we really got a hold of ourselves and in the end, we deserved the win. We have to let fewer goals in – we can't always score two or three goals. Hopefully that will improve in the future."

Gregor Kobel: "The win will do us a lot of good – especially after the last few games. It was a difficult game again today, with not a lot of time to train beforehand. We started well anyway, and then unluckily went behind. It was a hard, tough game, but we can be very proud of our response – that we just kept going, played our game and got what we deserved in the end. We kept it tight at the back and did not let them go 3-0 up. We just kept playing, scored the first goal and could tell that something was happening."
