Eight time German Champion Borussia Dortmund have signed Mikel Merino from the 1.July onward from the Spanish second division side CA Osasuna. The central midfielder signed a contract today with BVB until the 30.June, 2021.

Borussia Dortmund's Sporting Director Michael Zorc describes the 1.88 metre Iberian as a "great talent of Spanish football" and he emphasised: "we are very happy that we managed to complete his transfer in time for the new season."

The 19 year old Mikel Merino is currently in seventh place in the Segunda Division with CA Osasuna and he has so far played 22 matches (1 goal) in the current season for his club. Last summer he was part of Spain's U19 national side that won the European Championship.

Merino is already looking forward to his new challenge in Germany: " Borussia Dortmund is one of the top clubs in Europe. I feel honoured that I will be able to play for BVB soon, a club that is known for a special brand of football and plays in an impressive stadium in front of the biggest crowd in Europe at the moment, and the fans are very loyal and show real support!"
