Since October 2020, our Girls’ and Women’s Soccer Department has been passionately promoting the athletic development of women’s soccer at Borussia Dortmund. The BVB Women’s U16 team has been in existence since 2026.

Following their 3-0 victory over DJK Wacker Mecklenbeck in the Regionalliga West, they secured a win in the Westphalia Cup on Wednesday against league rivals 1. FFC Recklinghausen in front of 1,845 spectators at Rote Erde Stadium. In four competitive matches played, the Borussia women have won all four, scored 17 goals, and not conceded a single goal. \u201cI\u2019m particularly pleased that we\u2019ve kept a clean sheet. A solid defense is the foundation for top teams to compete at the highest level over the long term,\u201d explains head coach Markus Högner. <\/p>\n<h2>Team News<\/b><\/h2>\nAll the players coped well with the additional workload during the week. Jacqueline Meißner, who was left out of the squad for the cup match as a precaution, was able to resume full training on Thursday. Marina Scholz is currently dealing with adductor issues. \u201cWe\u2019ll see how it develops and hope she can return to action by next week at the latest,\u201d says Coach Högner. <\/p>\n<h2>Opponent<\/b><\/h2>\nLast season, MSV Duisburg left no doubt about their promotion to the Regionalliga West. By the end of the season, they had 23 wins out of 24 games in the Niederrheinliga, conceding just seven goals. In addition, MSV recently suffered a narrow 1-2 loss to second-division side Borussia Mönchengladbach in the DFB Cup. The team has earned six points from its first three games in the Regionalliga West, three of which came last weekend in a 5-2 victory over fellow promoted team SV Fortuna Freudenberg. <\/p>\n<h2>The First \u201cUnknown\u201d<\/b><\/h2>\nMSV Duisburg is the first of six opponents that the BVB Women have not yet faced in the Regionalliga West from last season. Nevertheless, some of the players are by no means unknown to Markus Högner due to their shared past at SGS Essen.
