Erik Durm impressed a nation on his debut for the national team. More importantly, he impressed the boss, too! “The lad did well,” said Joachim Löw speaking after the 2-2 draw with Cameroon.

The 22 year-old was understandably excited about his debut, “It’s so special to play for your country, a childhood dream has been realised. The team made it easy for me and looked after me. It’s just a shame we could only manage a draw.”

Durm now awaits the call-up for the final squad  with some confidence yet is keen to keep things in perspective, “It’s possible, but only the boss knows. I shall have to wait until the morning.” Mehmet Scholl, speaking on German television was convinced, “That was perhaps even more than  a reminder to the coach.” (br)
