Four days before their Bundesliga game in Cologne Borussia Dortmund registered a 3-2 win over fourth division Victoria Cologne in a training match on Tuesday. More important than the result was the return of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sebastian Kehl as well as Marco Reus and Ilkay Gündogan to the team.

In the two goal scorers  Reus and Mkhitaryan (Derstroff netted the third), Kehl, Gündogan as well as Neven Subotic, Sven Bender, Kevin Grosskreutz and Dong-Won Ji, BVB started the match with eight first-squad players, with Alomerovic, Knystock and Jordanov completing the starting eleven.

Viktoria Cologne took the lead in the ninth minute from a long range effort before BVB created their first clear-cut opening five minutes later through Reus who was very prominent in the early stages. The Germany international struck the bar two minutes later before netting the equaliser from the spot after a foul on Mkhitaryan.

After a shaky start, Borussia gradually took hold of the match, with Gündogan hitting the post (28 mins) and Mkhitaryan coming close with two chances.

BVB started the started half on the back foot as Cologne went back in front on 47 minutes and Reus hit the side netting twice (49/55 mins). Following a neat interplay with Reus, Mkhitaryan levelled the match again on the hour mark. When most of the first-team players had already been taken off the pitch, Derstroff finished off a break with a low shot to score the winner on 75 minutes. Mkhitaryan, Grosskreutz, Reus and Gündogan played for almost 70 minutes.
