“The bottom line is we couldn’t find our form on the day,” said Thomas Tuchel after the 0-0 draw in Berlin. But the Manager was not entirely dissatisfied with the point.

Thomas Tuchel on the match:

“It took quite a while for us to adapt to the match and the conditions. It shouldn’t be an excuse but the pitch was in a pretty lousy condition, which makes matches like this tricky. It isn’t much fun either. It took us a while to ward off the relentlessness and the aggressiveness of Hertha. They defended compactly and with great gusto. The last ten minutes of the first half were better for us. We dominated then in the second half. We felt better and more open to play our game, and adapted to the conditions. We had a couple of good chances, but the bottom line is we couldn’t find our form on the day, not only as a team but also individually, to turn the game in our favour. The 0-0 draw is reasonable”.

... on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's substitution:

“I don’t like to substitute him, but I didn’t feel that it was going his way. Otherwise you can wait until he turns it around. But we weren’t able to put him in this position. Link-up play with him was missing.”
