Roman Weidenfeller extends as BVB brand ambassador
"In recent years, Roman has proven himself to be a likeable, reliable, always positive and, in all honesty, extremely resilient ambassador for our colours and our history. With the power of his professional résumé, he helps us to enthuse people for our club and bring on board partners for us," said Managing Director Carsten Cramer.
As a successful ex-player who made 453 appearances between the sticks for BVB, won German league (2011, 2012) and cup titles (2012, 2017), reached the Champions League final in 2013 and became a World Cup winner in Brazil in 2014, Weidenfeller is a deeply authentic brand ambassador for BVB.
Since 2018, he has been fulfilling appointments for Borussia Dortmund around the world, has been visiting potential and long-standing partners, fan clubs and football schools but also political representatives of the Federal Republic of Germany as part of Borussia delegations, and – thanks to his successes and experience – has always been an important contact for media representatives in other countries, whom he can inform about BVB, SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, the club's fans and its social commitment.
"The BVB family has been a part of what I call home for a very long time. I still consider it a great honour to be able to showcase this very special club to the outside world. I have a very varied and exciting range of activities. No two days are the same, I travel a lot and get to know exciting people and places all over the world. Passing on this BVB feeling that I have inside of me to other people is a lot of fun," said Weidenfeller.
In addition to the former national team goalkeeper, three other ex-players – Patrick Owomoyela, Karl-Heinz Riedle and Jörg Heinrich – are employed by BVB as brand ambassadors.
