Dana Marquardt suffers UCL tear

Dana Marquardt, striker for the BVB women's team, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament on Sunday during a tackle in the match against FSV Gütersloh.

The 27-year-old has scored 17 goals in 14 competitive matches so far and was one of only three players to start in all 11 league matches so far this season. Borussia Dortmund will now have to do without her for several months.

Marquardt joined BVB from Hamburger SV in January 2025 and has since played a key role in the club’s promotion to the Regionalliga and their strong start to the 2025/26 season.

Head of department Svenja Schlenker: “Dana’s injury is of course a bitter setback for the whole team. She is not only an outstanding player, but also an important personality on and off the pitch. We will support her as best we can during this difficult time and wish her a speedy and full recovery. The BVB family stands firmly by her side.”
