The facts on BVB's second game at the FIFA Club World Cup
Iqraam Rayners of Mamelodi Sundowns became the first player to get on the scoresheet in BVB's group after the match between Borussia Dortmund and Fluminense FC ended goalless. Rayners scored in the 36th minute to secure a deserved 1-0 victory over Ulsan. It was one of 14 shots on goal for the winning team.
This is the second time the South African record champions have participated in the FIFA Club World Cup. In 2016/17, they finished sixth (out of seven participants).
The club won the CAF Champions League in 2016. They reached the final of the African continental tournament in 2001 and 2025.
Mamelodi have won the South African title in eight of the last ten seasons and are the record champions with 17 titles in total. In the current CAF Champions League season, they won six games in a row to reach the final, where they met Pyramids FC from Egypt. A 1-1 draw in the first leg was followed by a 2-1 defeat in the second.
