Watzke running for club presidency

Hans-Joachim Watzke, who will be leaving his current role as chairman of the board at Borussia Dortmund in the autumn, will be running for the position of president of the registered association at the BVB general meeting this November.

Watzke came to this decision after careful consideration during the summer break, and subsequently informed Borussia Dortmund’s committees.

The 66-year-old stated: “At our next general meeting, I will be running for the position of president of Borussia Dortmund. In doing so, I am complying with the request made by the BVB committees. It would be an honour to be able to continue to support our club in this important function after 20 years of active engagement. I informed Reinhold Lunow of my decision in a private conversation.”
