BVB sign Aaron Anselmino on loan

Borussia Dortmund have reacted to the difficult personnel situation in the central defensive department by signing Aaron Anselmino, an Argentina U20 international, on loan from Chelsea. The 20-year-old's loan is set to run until 30 June 2026.

“Due to the injuries sustained by Emre Can, Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Süle, we have been forced to make additions to our central defence. Aaron Anselmino has already gained top-flight experience in his home country and has great potential. It is not without reason that Chelsea signed him on an extremely long-term contract last summer,” said Borussia Dortmund managing director Lars Ricken.

“We were already monitoring Aaron during his time at Boca Juniors. He represents a very good solution in our current situation. He is a talented player who has already proven his quality at a young age in very emotional stadiums. We will now integrate him quickly because we need him immediately and are looking forward to seeing Aaron in the Black & Yellow shirt this season,” declared BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl.

Anselmino, who will wear the No. 28 shirt for the Black & Yellows, successfully completed his compulsory medical examination yesterday and could make his debut at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK as early as the home game against Union Berlin this coming weekend. “I am really looking forward to Borussia Dortmund and will give my all to be successful with this great club and their fantastic fans,” said the young Argentine.
