Postgame Rections: “Weren’t in the Game Until We Conceded”

Head Coach Niko Kovac and defender Waldemar Anton, who wore the captain’s armband during the match in Norway, shared their thoughts on the 1-0 loss in the UEFA Champions League away match at FK Bodø/Glimt. Check out the postgame comments!

Niko Kovac (on DAZN): “We weren’t even in the game until we conceded the goal. In the first half, we lacked passion and intensity. We didn’t play the kind of football that is needed in order to win here. It wasn’t until the four substitutions that we found our way into the game better and took control. Up to that point, though, the opposition was clearly the better side. We deserved to lose the game.”

Waldemar Anton (on DAZN): “IWe knew what we were up against. We’re not using that as an excuse. We simply didn’t play well in the first half — both with and without the ball — and were always a step too late. We weren’t physical enough and lacked intensity. You can't win without that intensity. It clearly wasn't enough. After conceding the goal, we started to actually play football. In the end, we had chances to tie it up at 1-1. We have to be clinical in front of goal, especially in Champions League road games. That was another one of our problems today.”
