500 Fans at Sunday's Open Practice

The day after their successful Bundesliga home game against Eintracht Frankfurt (1–0), the Borussia Dortmund first team held an open training session on Sunday. Around 500 BVB fans watched the nearly one-hour session at noon. Beforehand, the BVB pros in attendance fulfilled visitors’ requests for autographs and selfies.

Not even 15 hours had passed since the final whistle on Saturday evening when the Black and Yellows were already back at the BVB training facility in Dortmund-Brackel. After the starting lineup players from the 1-0 home win against Eintracht Frankfurt had patiently fulfilled the many autograph and photo requests from the fans who had traveled to see them, this part of the team left the training field and completed their recovery session in the indoor training area.

For the rest of the BVB players – including Jobe Bellingham, Maximilian Beier, Ethan Nwaneri, and others who came on as substitutes on Saturday – training continued on the field with a practice session to make up for the missed match. During the roughly 60-minute session, various athletic drills were on the agenda under the watchful eyes of interested BVB fans. This was followed by passing drills and small-sided games, before the backup goalkeepers were once again put to the test as their teammates took shots on goal.

On Monday, the final training session ahead of the upcoming competitive match is already on the schedule. On Tuesday evening, Borussia Dortmund will host Bundesliga rival Werder Bremen for the second round of this year’s DFB Cup at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK (Oct. 27, 8:45 p.m., live on Sky and ZDF, as well as on the BVB app).
