Karetsas Takes Another Step Toward a Comeback

Konstantinos Karetsas has taken another step toward his comeback. A decision on whether he’ll play in the away game against Bayern Munich (Saturday, 6:30 p.m., live on Sky and the BVB app) will be made on Friday.

Karetsas suffered a ligament injury in his foot during the match against Union Berlin and has since missed the games in Baku, against Frankfurt, and against Bremen. On Thursday, the midfielder took part in parts of team training for the first time. “Provided nothing goes wrong after this training session,” Karetsas is expected to participate in Friday’s final training session, according to BVB coach Niko Kovac. “Then we’ll decide whether he’s ready to make the trip to Munich or not.”

Regarding the players from Tuesday’s cup match against Bremen, Kovac said: “They’re doing well. Everyone will be there for the final training session.” (cr)
