Facts: Strongest Defense vs. Strongest Offense
With five shutouts and just four goals allowed in seven matches, Borussia Dortmund currently boasts the league’s best defense. Opponents have managed only three clear-cut chances, and Gregor Kobel has saved an impressive 82 percent of the shots on his goal. Facing them is a Munich offense on a record-breaking streak. In the Bundesliga, Bayern scored 18 goals in their first three home games (5–1 against Stuttgart, 7–0 against Union, 6–1 against Leipzig)—a new record.
Referee: Stieler to officiate
Tobias Stieler has been appointed as the referee for the match. He will be assisted by Jan Seidel and Rafael Foltyn. Florian Badstübner will serve as the fourth official. Matthias Jöllenbeck will monitor the video footage as the VAR. Stieler has already officiated a BVB match this season: the 1-0 win in Stuttgart on Matchday 4 of the Bundesliga.
