Information on policing measures for the Champions League away match in Bergamo

Borussia Dortmund areaware that some BVB fans have been denied entry to Italy and are therefore unable to attend the Champions League away match in Bergamo. BVB has also been informed that fans have been visited by the police at their accommodation in Italy.

Borussia Dortmund are currently unaware of any detailed background information regarding the measures taken by the authorities. The club was not informed in advance about these disproportionate measures.

While Borussia Dortmund understand the need for security-based risk assessments for football matches, the club is more than surprised by the scope and scale of the police measures taken. Measures of this kind and intensity have never before been taken in connection with Borussia Dortmund's international away matches. BVB is seeking contact in order to obtain more detailed information on the background and legal basis for the measures, which the club finds completely incomprehensible.

Against this background, some of BVB's active fan base will not be attending the away match in Bergamo. BVB expressly regrets that some of its fans will not be able to watch the away match at the stadium in Bergamo due to this questionable behaviour on the part of the authorities.
