“Parting on good terms” – BVB and Brandt decide not to renew contract

Julian Brandt’s contract, which expires at the end of the season, will not be renewed. Managing director Lars Ricken made a statement after the match against 1. FC Köln.

Lars Ricken (on Sky): "There were open discussions and we agreed that his expiring contract would not be renewed. He played a few hundred games for Borussia Dortmund. We can only be grateful to him. He played for us for seven years. He will turn 30 in a few weeks. We will reorient ourselves. This can also be an opportunity for both sides. We part ways with a great deal of appreciation."

After 13 minutes, Annika Enderle put the Black & Yellows 1-0 up. The visitors then found answers to the high pressing and turned the game around before Paula Reimann reduced the deficit to 4-2 in the 46th minute. Next Sunday, the BVB women will travel to Mönchengladbach for an away game in the Regionalliga West. The match against Borussia's second team will kick off at 12:00 CET at the Am Haus Lütz sports complex.
