15 assists: Julian Ryerson, just like Jadon Sancho in his day

It was the perfect end to the season, and for Julian Ryerson too, as the Norwegian was the driving force on Dortmund’s right flank in the 2025/26 season. He provided his 15th assist for the opening goal in Bremen!

“That was an area where I wanted to improve. I’ve managed to do that this season,” said the 28-year-old after the 2-0 win in Bremen to round off the season. The Black & Yellows scored for the 16th time from a cross when Serhou Guirassy opened the scoring in the 59th minute – a Bundesliga record.

Ryerson contributed his 15th assist of the season following a diagonal pass from Nico Schlotterbeck. The last player to record more assists in a BVB shirt was an absolute attacking maestro as Jadon Sancho racked up 16 assists in the 2019/20 season.

This season, Ryerson is surpassed by just one other player in the Bundesliga: Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise has 21 assists.

“In terms of points, it’s been a good season for us in the Bundesliga,” Julian Ryerson summed up after the 2-0 win in Bremen: “73 points is a decent tally. Unfortunately, the gap is a bit too big, but we can build on that.”
