The DFB squad is heading to the World Cup with four Borussia players

Ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the USA (11 June to 19 July), Germany’s head coach Julian Nagelsmann has called up four BVB players to his squad. Four other Borussia players from other countries have also already secured their places.

The DFB squad will travel to North America with Dortmund players Nico Schlotterbeck, Waldemar Anton, Felix Nmecha and Maxi Beier. The DFB had already announced the first World Cup squad members earlier in the morning via short videos on social media. At the press conference at midday, Nagelsmann confirmed the inclusion of the BVB quartet.

The DFB squad will begin their World Cup preparations on 27 May in Herzogenaurach. This will be followed by two friendly matches against Finland (31 May, 20:45 CEST) and hosts the USA (6 June, 20:30 CEST). In the group stage of the finals, the team will face Curaçao (14 June, 19:00 CEST), Ivory Coast (20 June, 22:00 CEST) and Ecuador (25 June, 22:00 CEST).

Dortmund’s number one, Gregor Kobel, has been named in the squad for Switzerland. Marcel Sabitzer and Carney Chukwuemeka will represent Austria at the World Cup. Daniel Svensson is part of the Swedish squad.

The Norwegian and Algerian squads will also be announced today, Thursday, so we will find out then whether Julian Ryerson and Ramy Bensebaini will take part in the World Cup.

Salih Özcan is part of Turkey’s provisional squad. However, the final squad will not be announced until shortly before the tournament begins.
