The return of the Revierderby: BVB will face Schalke on these matchdays

BVB fans have been waiting for a rematch of the Revierderby for three seasons. Following FC Schalke 04’s promotion as second-division champions, the Black & Yellows and the Blue & Whites will face off again twice in the 2026/27 Bundesliga season. Even before the full fixture list has been published, the DFL has already announced the matchdays on which BVB will face Schalke.

On Thursday (2 July), the DFL will publish the full fixture list for the 2026/27 season. One thing that is already certain is that BVB will play away in Gelsenkirchen on Matchday 12 (4–6 December). On Bundesliga Matchday 29 (9–11 April), Schalke will be the visitors at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK.

The Revierderby is one of the most emotionally charged clashes in German football. The two clubs last met in the 2022/23 season: BVB won 1-0 at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, while the away fixture ended in a 2-2 draw. In their last five Bundesliga derbies against Schalke, the Black & Yellows have emerged victorious on four occasions.
