Yasu Wöhrn suffers severe knee injury

Defender Yasu Wöhrn will be sidelined for several months. The 22-year-old suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during a friendly match against AS Roma last Saturday.

“This news comes as a shock to us. We’re going to miss Yasu terribly. We wish her all the best for her upcoming surgery and lots of strength for the coming months. We’ll do everything we can to support her on her way back to the field,” says sporting director Ralf Kellermann.

Coach Markus Högner also laments the loss of the center back: “The diagnosis is very tough. Yasu had a great preseason and was in good form. This diagnosis is just bitter, and we wish her only the very best.”

Wöhrn sustained the injury on Saturday against AS Roma during a tackle in the 12th minute of the game and had to be substituted immediately.
