Match Report
Kobel: “We’ll keep getting stronger”
Ole Book: “Disappointment prevails; we had set our sights high for today. The first few minutes were okay, but then we made too many mistakes. In the second half, we showed a different side. We demonstrated our power and what we’re capable of offensively. When we play forward, when we’re bold and precise in possession, we’re a good team and can play good football.”
Niko Kovac: “It was an intense game from both teams. There were chances on both sides. We got off to a solid start, but then we let Bayern gain the upper hand with a few mistakes, and we had to defend a lot. Bayern had two more good chances at the end of the first half. The second goal before halftime, in stoppage time, was frustrating. When you go into halftime down 0–1, you still have a chance to come back in our stadium. The second half was really good. We took more risks. We had more possession, were more dangerous, and were more aggressive.”
Gregor Kobel: “Bayern had very good chances throughout the game and could have scored more goals. In the end, it was a shame because we still had chances. There were a lot of good moments here and there; you could see some promising signs. You could also tell that many of the lads are still new and don’t have that much experience yet, which is normal in a situation like this. But I believe we’ll keep getting stronger.”
Waldemar Anton: “First of all, we’re disappointed – no one likes to lose a final. In the first half, we made mistakes that were far too easy to avoid. It’s the little things and the details. In a game like this, it becomes difficult to come back from that. In the second half, though, we had plenty of moments where we could have turned the game in our favor. That didn’t work out, and of course, that’s bitter. But we’re on the right track and need to keep working now.”
Joey Veerman: “It’s special to play for Dortmund. It was my first game, so I’m happy to be playing for this special club. We played well in the second half and should have tied the game in the final minute. We want to compete for titles this season. We want to do well in the Champions League and the Bundesliga, and I hope to be a part of that.”
