Pre-Match Report

Positive Roster Situation Ahead of the Stuttgart Match

Ahead of the Bundesliga match at VfB Stuttgart, BVB coach Niko Kovac discusses returning players and the lineup for Saturday (6:30 p.m., live on Sky).

The best news of the training week came as early as Wednesday: Konstantinos Karetsas has resumed training with his teammates. “He’s in good spirits, laughing, happy, and enjoying training,” observed BVB coach Niko Kovac. The plan is for the new signing to travel to Stuttgart and rejoin the squad.

Nico Schlotterbeck and Ramy Bensebaini made their comebacks last weekend against Paderborn. “They handled everything well and are fit and ready to play this weekend,” said Kovac. Schlotterbeck was called up for the upcoming DFB international matches after just one appearance. “Schlotti was injured for a very long time, and the last game was his first in over 60 or 70 minutes. It was important for him to get that feeling back. It was his wish to return as quickly as possible and also to be part of the national team. It’s better for him to train there than here in a very small group.” (cr)
