New Thunderstorm Policy in the Bundesliga
Starting this season, a new thunderstorm policy is in effect regarding potential game interruptions due to thunderstorms. Essentially, it states: If lightning strikes within a 10-kilometer radius, the officiating crew is warned; if it strikes within a 5-kilometer radius, an alarm is triggered. The referee then decides whether to suspend the game. Play may resume no sooner than 20 minutes after the last recorded lightning strike within a five-kilometer radius. If the interruption lasts longer than 30 minutes, a five-minute warm-up is scheduled. The referee also decides whether to resume play or call off the game.
