Dahoud to undergo shoulder surgery

Borussia Dortmund will still be without Mo Dahoud for the home game against TSG Hoffenheim, while Raphael Guerreiro withdrew at late notice. Head coach Edin Terzic and sporting director Sebastian Kehl explained the reasons prior to kick-off.

"Raphael has dropped out, he had symptoms of illness and felt worn out before we got on the bus," Terzic said of his left-back in an interview with DAZN. Marius Wolf will move over to the left side of defence, with Thomas Meunier brought into the team.

Mo Dahoud's absence will be long-term. "We tried a conservative treatment for almost two weeks," said Terzic of the midfielder, who has a shoulder injury. "Unfortunately Mo does now need to be operated and will not be available to us over the coming weeks." Sporting director Sebastian Kehl added: "He will unfortunately not play again until November. He's tried everything but unfortunately the shoulder came out for the second time. It simply wasn't working anymore, hence why Mo has now decided following consultation with the doctors to undergo shoulder surgery." (br)
