BVB captain Emre Can and his teammates Nico Schlotterbeck, Jadon Sancho, Ian Maatsen and Karim Adeyemi spoke ahead of the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie away to Atletico Madrid.

Emre Can: "It's going to be a great game. We're travelling to Madrid as Borussia Dortmund, we want to win and play with confidence in order to gain the advantage in the first game."

Nico Schlotterbeck: ''We've already achieved a lot in the Champions League this year and deserve to be here. We don't need to hide from anyone, we showed that in the group stage and in the round of 16. We'll have to be compact on Wednesday, manage our transitions well and watch out for Atletico's counter-attacks. If we can do that well, then we can hold our own in Madrid. But Atletico will also have to be ready for us because we also have a very good team. Our fans are fired up - and so are we."

Jadon Sancho: "I'm looking forward to Wednesday, of course it will be a very tough game. It's never easy in Madrid, they have a great team. Our focus has to be right and we have to stick together, then I'm sure we can beat them. Their performances speak for themselves, they're very strong defensively and we shouldn't underestimate them. We just have to stick to the plan and fight to the end. We have to believe in ourselves that we're going to win."

Ian Maatsen: "Atletico coach Diego Simeone is very passionate and close to his team. The players want to do their best for him, you can see that, otherwise they wouldn't be in the quarter-finals. I'm looking forward to a special game. It's a beautiful stadium with great fans and a good atmosphere. It's all down to us, we're going there and we'll try to win."

Karim Adeyemi: ''Karim Adeyemi: "We don't have to hide away on Wednesday, we're a great team. If we show desire and go at full throttle, we can definitely win.''
