Ahead of the cup match against MSV Duisburg next Monday, Giovanni Reyna answered questions from the media. He looks ahead to the coming season, discusses working with Lucien Favre and names role model within the team.

Giovanni Reyna on the upcoming season:
"I'm ready for an exciting year. We know it's going to be a long season because we have a lot of games. We're looking forward to it."

… his personal goals:
"I'm still young, I can improve in several areas. I try to learn new things every day. I want to play as much as possible and be in the starting eleven more often, scoring and setting up goals. I learned a lot last season and am ready to take on a bigger role in the team."

… the quality of the team:
"I think we're stronger than last year because we have more depth in our squad. We've added some exciting and dynamic players to the team who will help us."

… a young midfield with Jude Bellingham and him:
"He plays a little deeper than I do. We'll both get our chances this season. I'm looking forward to playing with him. And off the pitch, it's nice to have someone who is my age and speaks English. We get on very well."

… the DFB Cup match against MSV Duisburg:
"It's going to be a proper cup tie. It will be different from the friendly against them. Now there's something to play for. They will be fighting. It's not going to be easy for us. We have to take the game seriously like any other. They might sit a little deeper, but with our quality we are able to win the game."

… his goal in the cup against Bremen last season:
"That was instinct. Julian Brandt gave me the ball, I beat a couple of opponents and saw the top corner. I aimed for it and the shot was perfect. It was a great goal and a big step for me."

… working with Lucien Favre:
"He gives young players freedom, lets them learn from their mistakes and gives them more than just one chance. He understands that we are still young. He wants to work with us and improve us. That gives a lot of young players confidence."

… his role models in the team:
"Marco Reus was always one of the players I looked up to. He has achieved so much in his career and is a great player. He helps me a lot on and off the pitch."

… Jadon Sancho:
"I can learn a lot from him too. He knows how to get the best out of himself at this club and in the Bundesliga. He helps me in a different way."
