Klopp: "We have observed Barrios closely and not only watched his 37 goals on YouTube"

Borussia Dortmund were the only side of the international anniversary tournament at the SIGNAL IDUNA PARK to win a game without the help of a penalty shoot-out, but they became a "victim" of the competition system and so had to let Valencia get their hands on the trophy. It was still a good showing by BVB, even though Jürgen Klopp wasn´t happy with everything he saw. The coach also talked about Sebastian Kehl´s injury and about the potential new signing, Lucas Barrios.

Jürgen Klopp about...
...the tournament: "With a different competition system we would have won the tournament and the trophy would have stayed here. It´s too bad, but it can´t be helped."
...Sebastian Kehl´s injury: "During warm-up he felt a light tightness in the thigh. It will be scanned in the next couple of days. Today it was impossible for him to play."
...his team´s performance: "A lot of basics were okay. We defended relatively well, transition worked out pretty good. I was angry about the creation of Valencia´s first goal. It was an avoidable tactical error. In the second game my team reacted better, played some decent football and scored beautiful goals."

...shooting star Kevin Grosskreutz: "He´s having a great pre-season, scores almost in every game. He can take on a role as a second striker or as a "number 10", whereby he´s playing it completely different compared to Tamas Hajnal - as a very, very offensive midfielder. Kevin has a good tactical understanding, he´s quick, shoots well and has a fine technique."
...the potential new signing, Lucas Barrios: "We´ve been interested in him for quite a while. We approached him very early and have observed him for a very long time - and not only watched his 37 goals on YouTube. We beat one or two famous clubs to sign him. He´s strong, has a physical presence with his height of 1,89m [6ft. 2] , is aggressive, has great shooting technique. Lucas has proven his quality also in the Copa Libertadores games. We now have another option up front, where we are well covered. He´s joining us from the middle of an ongoing season, but here he will have time to find his bearings. We are in no hurry at all. He´s very much looking forward to this step to Europe - he could have also signed a couple thousand miles east, but it has also got around to Chile that that´s not the same."
