With immediate effect, Lars Ricken is Borussia Dortmund´s new Youth Coordinator. BVB Sport Director Michael Zorc made the announcement during a press conference at the Donaueschingen Training Camp.
Zorc had many recent conversations with Lars Ricken over Ricken´s future and prospects. "We are happy that in Lars we have an integral Dortmund figure to work with our new generation. Ricken is not only a true Dortmunder has long-time experience at the highest sporting levels. Zorc further stated, "He can create the path for the young players and can be an example for them."
U17-Trainer Peter Wazinski will assist Lars Ricken, who will be succeeding Edwin Boekamp as Youth Coordinator. Boekamp moved to Galatasaray Istanbul to be Michael Skibbe´s assistant coach. Ricken´s new position can be really tough work according to Zorc. Ricken will plan an initiate projects oversee scouting work and meet with parents and advisors of the youth players.
Lars Ricken was very satisfied and excited about his new job. Ricken, who turned 32 years old yesterday, will still be available to play for the amateur team. A chance to play for the professional team is not completely out of the question. On the other hand, he does have his training program in the BVB front office.
