BVB are electrifying - not only in the stadium, but also in front of it. Fans are now able to charge their electric cars outside of the Signal Iduna Park at the BVB FanWelt. Managing director Carsten Cramer and senior team player Manuel Akanji have opened four of a total nine charging stations that are planned.

"It's time to face up to the challenges of the future. This also means managing energy resources in a responsible manner. Many of our partners already have electrically driven vehicles. This is a logical consequence of having a green electricity provider on board in LichtBlick", explained Carsten Cramer.

Manuel Akanji is also supporting the 100 percent environmentally-friendly refuelling process, and has tested it with an OPEL Ampera-e: "Today is the first time I have ever driven an electric car. It's a nice feeling and I think it's good that the supporters can charge their cars during matches."

The charging station is provided with green electricity (Electricity 09) from BVB's partner Lichtblick. Charging is currently free; in future, it will be possible using the 'Strom09' (Electricity09) charging chip.
