"Dortmund sings Christmas songs": Festive sounds in SIGNAL IDUNA PARK
On Sunday afternoon, with a peaceful atmosphere and dimmed lights, traditional and modern Christmas songs rang out in SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, awakening the festive spirit in visitors of all ages. For the first time, music producer Dieter Falk had rearranged some of the biggest Christmas hits for the event. Along with his band, the pianist and composer provided the background music. There were 17 songs in the programme for "Dortmund sings Christmas songs", presented by schauinsland-reisen, including the classics "Silent night", "Oh Christmas tree", and "Snow falls softly at night." "Shine, my star Borussia" and "You'll never walk alone" were well-received by the football fans.
Alexander Klaws was part of the event for the third time this year. Singers Stefanie Heinzmann and Jo-Marie Dominiak also made an appearance. They were supported by the BVB Christmas choir, which fans had applied to be a part of. prior to the event
BVB coach Nuri Sahin, co-coach Lukasz Piszczek, and first team players Nico Schlotterbeck, Alex Meyer, Pascal Groß, Kjell Wätjen, Maxi Beier and Waldemar Anton also came to the yearly sing-along. At the end of the concert, they went out onto the stage together. Finally, BVB managing director Carsten Cramer thanked all of the BVB fans for their unconditional support during an eventful year. "In the name of the committee and the board, I want to say thank you! The past year, 2024, was an impressive one." He mentioned the club's 220,000 members, and the magical Champions League nights which took the Black&Yellows all the way to the final in London in the previous season. Cramer continued: "These events show time and time again the strength that this club has. Borussia Dortmund has the power to bring people together." He also promised that 2025 would feature the seventh "Dortmund sings Christmas songs."
"Dortmund sings Christmas songs" 2023 raised more than 120,000 euros, and this year the majority of the proceeds will again go to social and community causes in Dortmund. They will support the BVB learning centre, the street football league Nordstadtliga Dortmund, the Lensing Media relief organisation, and the homelessness initiative Gast-Haus e.V.
