That\u2019s why we\u2019ve made the rosters a bit broader and more balanced this year. When it comes to player flow, we\u2019re well on our way to reaching the numbers I envision.<\/p>\nIn addition, we\u2019ve further expanded the rosters with a few new external signings so that, during this phase with so many competitions, we don\u2019t end up short-handed again and have to make certain players play through periods when they\u2019d actually be better off taking a break.\u201d<\/p>\n\u2026 the importance of international competitions for the U19s: \n<\/b>\u201cWe were the youngest team in the Youth League, the Youth League, and the Premier League International Cup. In the winter, we made a conscious decision to move players like Samuele Inacio, Luca Reggiani, and Mathis Albert up to the U23s or the first-team squad early on. That has an impact on the team during the winter. It means the team has to find its footing again. New players get a chance, but at the same time, they face the challenge of stepping into the shoes of the already established youth players.<\/p>\nThat was the phase in which the U19 team certainly faced the greatest difficulties\u2014both in terms of results and performance. But we can say: We made it. RWO played with spirit, repeatedly pressing high up the field against Dortmund\u2019s back three of Jan-Luca Riedl, Filippo Mane, and Luca Reggiani. <\/p>\nThe young Dortmund team gave the ball away quickly several times while building up play, and one of those turnovers proved costly: In the fifth minute, Oberhausen\u2019s Luca Vincent Schlax reacted sharply, playing a ball he\u2019d won in midfield directly to Timur Kesim, who slotted it neatly into the right corner of the net.<\/p>\nIt took BVB over a quarter of an hour to get into the game. Before halftime, the visitors\u2019 pressure grew steadily, but first Fabio Silva and Jobe Bellingham failed to capitalize on a double chance\u2014both were denied by RWO goalkeeper Ryan Valentine, just as Luca Reggiani had been moments earlier with a header. <\/p>\nShortly before halftime, the ball fell to Justin Lerma\u2019s feet in the penalty area. After a blocked shot by Albert, the debutant from Ecuador reacted quickest and finished from a tight angle to tie the game.<\/p>\n<h2>BVB Makes Eleven Substitutions at Halftime <\/b><\/h2>\nAfter this meager halftime score, the Borussians pushed hard for a quick lead in the second half. BVB head coach Niko Kovac replaced the entire team, bringing in additional new signings Takato Yamamoto and Joane Gadou. Additionally, 16-year-old Marwan Mirza made his debut for the BVB First team at right back. <\/p>\nThe goal that made it 2-1 in the 55th minute was a top-priority play! After 17-year-old Enzo Duarte (also from the club\u2019s own youth academy) held his ground against several defenders, Serhou Guirassy got on the end of the ball in the penalty area. Dortmund\u2019s top scorer didn\u2019t hesitate, blasting the ball into the near corner from 13 meters out. <\/p>\nTen minutes later, the Guinean had a chance to score BVB\u2019s third goal, but RWO goalkeeper Valentine once again made a superb save.<\/p>\nWhile the Regionalliga side\u2019s energy levels noticeably waned in front of 7,359 spectators, Dortmund continued to push the pace. Dortmund\u2019s third goal was scored in the 78th minute by another debutant, Takato Yamamoto. The 18-year-old Japanese player had stepped onto the BVB training field for the first time this week and was rightly celebrated for his debut goal. <\/p>\nBVB had further scoring chances in the closing minutes, but in the end, the score remained 3-1 in favor of the German runners-up. Before halftime, the visitors\u2019 pressure grew steadily, but first Fabio Silva and Jobe Bellingham failed to capitalize on a double chance\u2014both were denied by RWO goalkeeper Ryan Valentine, just as Luca Reggiani had been moments earlier with a header. <\/p>\nShortly before halftime, the ball fell to Justin Lerma\u2019s feet in the penalty area. After a blocked shot by Albert, the debutant from Ecuador reacted quickest and finished from a tight angle to tie the game.<\/p>\n<h2>BVB Makes Eleven Substitutions at Halftime <\/b><\/h2>\nAfter this meager halftime score, the Borussians pushed hard for a quick lead in the second half. BVB head coach Niko Kovac replaced the entire team, bringing in additional new signings Takato Yamamoto and Joane Gadou. Additionally, 16-year-old Marwan Mirza made his debut for the BVB First team at right back. <\/p>\nThe goal that made it 2-1 in the 55th minute was a top-priority play! After 17-year-old Enzo Duarte (also from the club\u2019s own youth academy) held his ground against several defenders, Serhou Guirassy got on the end of the ball in the penalty area. Dortmund\u2019s top scorer didn\u2019t hesitate, blasting the ball into the near corner from 13 meters out. <\/p>\nTen minutes later, the Guinean had a chance to score BVB\u2019s third goal, but RWO goalkeeper Valentine once again made a superb save.<\/p>\nWhile the Regionalliga side\u2019s energy levels noticeably waned in front of 7,359 spectators, Dortmund continued to push the pace. Dortmund\u2019s third goal was scored in the 78th minute by another debutant, Takato Yamamoto. The 18-year-old Japanese player had stepped onto the BVB training field for the first time this week and was rightly celebrated for his debut goal. <\/p>\nBVB had further scoring chances in the closing minutes, but in the end, the score remained 3-1 in favor of the German runners-up.
