BVB World Street Series comes to New York

Following stops in Los Angeles and Tokyo, Borussia Dortmund is bringing its World Street Soccer Series to the heart of New York. Around 350 children and young people aged between 8 and 18 from New York and New Jersey will compete in this year’s street football tournament in four-a-side matches. For one day, Times Square will be transformed into a black-and-yellow football arena.

The SSUSA Open Cup will follow, with BVB legend Patrick Owomoyela taking to the pitch alongside artists, athletes and creators. Announced participants include KidSuper, Michael Lahoud, iTekkers and Mark Ambor. The event will conclude with the finals and a “Top Baller” one-on-one competition.

The focus goes beyond sporting competition. The BVB World Street Series aims to give young people access to football and offer them extraordinary experiences at some of the world’s most iconic locations. Its motto reflects this ambition: “Built by every story.”

The series was created as part of the five-year partnership between BVB and Street Soccer USA. Its focus is on young people, local communities and the unifying power of football.
