2026 World Cup: when are the BVB players playing?

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is just around the corner – from 11 June to 19 July, 48 nations will compete for the World Cup title in the USA, Canada and Mexico. A total of 104 matches will be played. The group stage runs until the end of June, followed by the round of 32 for the first time. This will be followed by the round of 16, the quarter-finals, the semi-finals, the third-place play-off and the final. Borussia Dortmund will be represented at the World Cup by a total of ten players.

No fewer than four Borussia players are in the German national team line-up: Waldemar Anton, Maximilian Beier, Nico Schlotterbeck and Felix Nmecha will be competing in Group E. Ramy Bensebaini represents Algeria in Group J, while Carney Chukwuemeka and Marcel Sabitzer are also competing for Austria in Group J. This will see the first-ever Borussia derby in the tournament. Gregor Kobel is between the posts for Switzerland (Group B), Julian Ryerson leads Norway onto the pitch in Group I, and Daniel Svensson kicks off the tournament with Sweden in Group F.
