Borussia Dortmund loan Jonas Hofmann to Mainz for the rest of the season

Eight-time German champions Borussia Dortmund will loan midfielder Jonas Hofmann to league rivals FSV Mainz 05 until the end of the 2014/2014 season. The Germany U21 international completed his medical in Mainz on Monday.

“Jonas Hofmann has a lot of potential for development. We believe in Jonas and have together decided that at this stage of his career it makes sense to get as much match practice as possible,” said Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc.

Jonas Hofmann (31 Bundesliga games/2 goals) said: “It’s really important to me that I get match practice at an ambitious and emotional club BVB are on friendly terms with. I want to thank Borussia Dortmund, the fans and my teammates for the great time – the Borussia Dortmund chapter is close to my heart and far from closed.”
