Henrikh Mkhitaryan to transfer to Manchester United

Borussia Dortmund and midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan (27) will part ways this summer. After intensive discussions, BVB have agreed to honour the Armenian national team player's wish to depart for Manchester United, who finished fifth in last year's Premier League table.

"The decision to go ahead with this transfer was a very difficult one due to the unique negotiating position we found ourselves in: Manchester had made us an exceptionally generous offer. If we had not taken them up on it, then the player would have gone a year later in 2017 on a free transfer. And we would have only delayed answering the question over the player by one year", clarified Hans-Joachim Watzke (Chief Executive Officer).

Borussia Dortmund wishes Henrikh Mkhitaryan every success for the coming season, in both the Premier League as well as in the UEFA Europa League.
