Schmelzer targeting return to action in four weeks

A comprehensive medical examination has revealed that Marcel Schmelzer sustained a partial tear of the lateral collateral ligament in his ankle during a training session on Monday.

The medical team's aim is to get the team captain fit again by the time Borussia Dortmund kick off their Bundesliga campaign in Wolfsburg in four weeks' time. (br)

Süle joined Dortmund in the summer of 2022 and reached the Champions League final with BVB. Against Frankfurt, Süle played his 300th Bundesliga match, his 110th competitive game for BVB. \u201cA man who, like few others, embodies power, passion and emotion. Just as Eintracht began to make their presence felt in attack again following Mario Götze\u2019s introduction, and looked to be on the verge of an equaliser (Kobel saved from Uzun, 62), Samuele Inacio scored the crucial goal to open up a 3-1 lead. It was his first goal in the Bundesliga. The 18-year-old Italian had initially been stopped on the edge of the box, but his teammates kept pressing.
